Sleeping Beauty Block Print | A4

The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods
This print was designed by us, the illustration being an original linocut design inspired Kay Neilson’s “Rosebud Looked so Beautiful He Stooped Down and Gave Her a Kiss”.
Neilson’s illustration was for the brothers Grimm story “Rose-bud”, their take on Sleeping beauty, however the text in this design is from “The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods” from Charles Perrault’s “Histoires ou contes du temps passé” (1697), translated from the original French story by A. E. Johnson (1929)
This artwork is an attempt to recreate the look of fairy tale anthologies that became massively popular in the 15th to 19th centuries by emulating the techniques of those eras. The print was hand made in our London workshop using a combination of traditional block printing techniques and a modern laser engraver.
The print is A4 and is printed on luxurious, laid art print paper. The paper is very thick at 300gsm.
