Tarot de Marseille by Jodorowsky

£30

The classic Marseille deck, originally drawn by Claude Burdel in 1751, is here reconstructed by Chilean-French filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Holy Mountain) and ‘heir of the last Master Cardmakers of Marseilles’, Philippe Camoin.

In an attempt to undo centuries of mistakes upon mistakes of reprints and reproductions of the original Tarot De Marseille, which has, as this pair of authors argue, mutated beyond recognition. This deck is the end result of Jodorowsky and Camoins venture. Half historical reclamation, half spiritual quest, the product of years of research is stunning, sincere and quite possibly the most ‘authentic’ tarot deck available to buy, at least regarding the purist collector.

78 slightly unconventional taller and thinner 2.6” x 4.8” size cards. Comes in a simple card tuck box, including a small booklet detailing not only the card meanings but the journey to recreating the Tarot de Marseille.
